Detox. Detox. Detox!

These are the words that every lyme patient hears from their LLMD.  I cannot stress enough the importance of detoxing your body. I believe the reason that I crashed so hard from Lyme was due to toxic overload (see my lyme story).  Detoxing your body will help your body heal so that your treatment is a success. Read the signals that your body is sending you. If you are feeling too ill to function, you need to give your body a break and detox.

Detox Regimens

Epsom Salt Bath:  This is one of my favorites.  There are various recipes for a detox bath online, but my favorite is 1-3 cups of epsom salts in a very hot bath. Add a cup of hydrogen peroxide 3% solution. You can add baking soda or a few drops of essential oil, like lavender, to the bath for relaxation. Dry Brush before you begin. Bathe for 20 minutes, then dry off completely.  You can rinse with cool water, to wash away residue from the bath. The goal is to sweat. If you begin to feel nauseated or lightheaded, end the bath and try again another day and work your way up to 20 minutes. I typically did 3 baths per week during my IV therapy.

Lemon Water: Drink an 8 oz glass of room temperature water each morning before you eat anything. This will help your digestive system and will clean toxins from your kidneys. Use organic lemons or 1 drop of lemon oil. Drink lemon water throughout the day.

Braggs Vinegar Water:  If I am feeling brain fog, I drink a glass of warm water with a few teaspoons of Braggs. This clears my head quickly.

Milk Thistle:  This will cleanse your liver if your liver titers are high or if you are feeling poorly with treatment.

Sauna: A FIR Infared Sauna is recommended.  You can buy one or visit one at a local gym.

Massage or Lymph Massage: I did a monthly massage during my IV treatment to keep my tissues from accumulating any toxins.  I also did some lymph drainage on myself at home.

Pinella:  I never used pinella, but I have heard others say that this eliminates their "brain fog" quickly.

If none of the above methods are working for you, I would suggest having your doctor test you for high ammonia levels.

*There are many other ways to detox your body.  These are the ones that I used, but you may add as many as you can afford and tolerate.
